Lightly draw the outline of the Chinese character ‘Fu’ on the red cardstock with a pencil, or print a ‘Fu’ template and trace it under the red cardstock. Cut out the ‘Fu’ character along the outline with scissors. Cut out some small patterns such as small flowers and stars from yellow paper and stick them on the ‘Fu’ character for decoration. Drill a hole at the top of the ‘Fu’ character and thread through the string to hang it up.
Paper Fireworks: Materials are colored paper, scissors, glue, and black cardstock. Cut the colored paper into small squares, for example, with sides of 5 – 8 centimeters. Fold the square colored paper several times along the diagonal or opposite sides to form a small triangle. Start cutting from one corner of the triangle. Be careful not to cut all the way to the end. After cutting a short section, change direction and cut again. Repeat this to make it look like fireworks when unfolded. Stick these ‘fireworks’ on the black cardstock to form the shape of fireworks blooming.
Some handicrafts suitable for kids: Bunting – Materials are glue stick, various design element stickers or paper cuttings, blank bunting, sequins, double-sided tape, and hanging rope. Steps: First, stick the design elements on the blank bunting according to your preference with glue stick. Then decorate the work with sequins using double-sided tape.
